Bert Atkinson – Producer/Director 

As an award winning filmmaker, Bert specializes in documentaries for the non-profit company. Recently, Bert worked with The Huntington Library Art Collection and Botanical Gardens on a bilingual series documenting the development of The Huntington’s Chinese Garden. Other clients include the Los Angeles Unified School District, The Exceptional Children’s Foundation, WYNGS – Project for Spinal Cord Injury and Pacific Oaks Teacher’s College. As an independent producer, Bert created the award winning Grief In America, about social patterns of bereavement and recovery.  

Anthony Edwards

Anthony Edwards is probably best known as Dr. Mark Greene on the series ER. Edwards has received four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.  Edwards has won three Screen Actor's Guild Awards. He won the Golden Globe Award in 1998. Edwards has starred in more than twenty features, including his memorable turn as "Goose" in the blockbuster feature Top Gun. Other feature film credits include; Thunderbirds, Forgotten, Playing by Heart, The Client, Miracle Mile, Mr. North, Hawks, Pet Semetary II, Delta Heat, Landslide, The Sure Thing, Gotcha, Revenge of the Nerds, Heart Like a Wheel, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Edwards’ recent films include Consumed, Experimenter, Big Sur, Motherhood with Uma Thurman, Flipped directed by Rob Reiner, and Zodiac directed by David Fincher. Edwards made his feature directing debut with My Dead Boyfriend in 2016. He also directed several episodes of ER. Edwards was an Executive Producer of the HBO biopic Temple Grandin, which won multiple Emmys and Golden Globes.

Socorro Serrano

Socorro Serrano is an Emmy-award winning producer with over 40 years of experience producing children's programming, news, documentaries and specials. In addition to receiving a Los Angeles Emmy for producing and hosting the local Romper Room children's program (1975 to 1990), Socorro also received an Action for Children's Television award in 1979 for diversity programming. Between 1988 and 2000, Socorro went on to produce children's specials, talk shows, news documentaries, multi-location political forums and live In-studio productions for KCOP-TV, KTTV Fox-11, KCET, and LAUSD. Also, from 1994 to 2009, she co-hosted the Sunday Edition, a Los Angeles public affairs program on KRLA and sister-station KLSX. In 2000, Socorro joined Kaiser Permanente as the Southern California Region's media relations lead and retired in 2016 as Director of Media Relations and Social Media, overseeing local and region-wide media in collaboration with medical centers from Bakersfield to San Diego. Socorro has an MA in human development with an emphasis in bicultural education. She is a 1988 graduate of Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, known for its teacher training of an anti-bias curriculum with a focus on social justice. 

Tony Estrada

Through his own company Wild Horse Films, Navajo filmmaker Tony Estrada has produced and produces content for New Mexico PBS – most recently, a documentary short about the Water Protectors at Standing Rock. Tony’s strength is being able to make sense of world issues, then presenting social commentary through the artistic expression of sound and pictures, to take the viewer on a meaningful journey of fact and awareness. Tony is committed to creating media content that’s an authentic voice of Native people – transcending cultural boundaries, nurturing the viewers’ mind, and touching their spirit; and he is honored to be a part of Bert Atkinson’s important documentary Los Cautivos: The First Battle over Native American Education.

James Mathers

James Mathers is veteran Cinematographer with over forty narrative feature credits.  In the documentary realm, he photographed "The US vs. John Lennon", and the Grammy nominated Showtime special “Beautiful Dreamer: Brian Wilson and the Story of Smile," as well as portions of the Sundance winner, "For The Bible Tells Me So," and Leonardo DiCaprio's "11th Hour".  Before that, he literally circled the globe shooting the National Geographic special, "In The Name of Heaven," a comparison of the world's great religions.  He is also the Founder and President of the nonprofit educational cooperative, The Digital Cinema Society, a group dedicated to the industry's informed integration of new technology, as well as a regular contributor to a number of industry trade journals.

Jim has 30 years experience editing everything from “Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling” to Catholic religious programing and from rap music videos to America’s Funniest Videos. Jim has a number of documentaries to his credit including “Grief In America” and “Liu Fang Yuan” Chinese Garden Series for The Huntington with Mr. Atkinson. For several years, Jim has specialized in building fake television shows for playback in dozens of movies like “Jurassic Park: The Lost World” and “Independence Day,” and for television shows like “Without A Trace” and “Scandal.” He is also the technical director for the show “The Newsroom.” His technical position on these shows challenges him to be current with the latest editing technology and styles to ensure a fresh and cutting edge look that the networks demand.
